UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX
Overall Rating

Sussex university has excellent student life facilities, there is a big focus on mental health and wellbeing and if you need to speak to someone, there is always someone on hand to talk to. The staff are all lovely and always willing to help you if you are struggling. Because of this, I think Sussex makes every student feel they are cared about. On the other hand, there are constant strikes at Sussex, and while I know this is not unique to only Sussex, it is frustrating and disheartening. I have studied at Sussex for 4 years now, and have had weeks of classes cancelled every single term (semester) because of strike action. I would love to support the teachers in this but it makes learning incredibly difficult, especially as strike action is usually planned over assessment periods or critical periods before Christmas when academic support is needed most. The results of my BA were also delayed because of marking strikes.

The infrastructure at Sussex is great, but could use some minor tlc in some of the older buildings, nothing major. Overall, campus has great facilities enough for studying and socialising.

Accommodation

I stayed in halls in 2019. They were great. We had contracted cleaners come in often to keep our rooms clean, included in the price. The facilities were great, we had a kitchen big enough for the 8 people living in our flat. Good laundry facilities, study and reception areas. No complaints. Felt very safe as we had key cards for the building and each flat, and our own rooms.
