MA - Master of Arts
Art & Design
Research
The programme offers Art and Design professionals who are employed in the sector an opportunity to upskill through a combination of taught modules and independent research work related to their area of work.
Course Overview
In line with the demands of the target markets for well-rounded, self-reflective and globally aware educational practitioners, the taught part of the programme (Part 1) places equal weight on the main areas of Art and Design education.
The overall aim of the taught part is to bring students up to speed with current discussions in the relevant academic sub-fields, preparing them for their independent research work in Part 2.
The research portfolio affords students an opportunity to specialise in one area and to explore a research topic linked to their employment or thought to have a practical impact in a particular area.
The programme will help students develop skills which are valuable to a wide range of employers, such as the ability to analyse complex information critically; the ability to present clear and coherent arguments and the ability to present complex information in a clear manner.
Why choose this course?
1.This programme aims to address the demand for qualified Art and Design professionals in countries or regions with emerging economies such as China, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Morocco or the Middle East.
2.Our focus on training self-reflective Art and Design teaching practitioners has prompted the inclusion of content relating to policies, quality frameworks and professional values across all modules.
This concern with key aspects of professional practice reinforces the fact that the aim of the programme is to develop highly skilled educational practitioners who also have the knowledge, analytical and research skills of successful Doctorate graduates.
