Winchester has been incredible, it has taught me lots about myself and I have met some of my best friends. The university has been so welcoming it immediately felt like home, and the community at Winchester is amazing.
It is a good student union, but it shuts too early and is aimed at undergraduates. Postgrads fall by the way side.
Facilities are built for purpose. They have what I need. However, the postgraduate research student room in the library is not available to postgraduate students, which seems like a major oversight.
Most: lecturers take on board student comments/criticisms well and adapt immediately, accordingly, and appropriately.Least: large lecture/seminar rooms are impersonal and ineffective.
The city is beautiful, welcoming, and full of dogs. The independent shops give Winchester more character than most big-cities, and the history allows for a wonderful place to life. It could be deemed quiet by those that like clubbing, but if you're more into pubs, food, coffee, and especially brunch, then Winchester is the place to live.
Careers presented an introductory talk, offering help with CVs/Volunteering/work experience etc.Given the opportunity to take part in extracurricular activities such as student academic representative, publishing papers in peer journals etc.
The support is absolutely incredible and cannot be faulted. I always felt supported, heard, and understood.
