Postgraduate Reviews of Courses at University of Wolverhampton

My ratings are for the online psychology masters, a bridging course. FIND ANOTHER PLACE IF STUDY. The flexibility is fantastic. However the online offering is dismal, really just an afterthought. Lectures are basic and actually poorly delivered through short simplistic videos. They provide no depth whatsoever and are mostly very dull. There are so few of them. The marking is another issue. Get ready to spend a great deal of your time disputing glaring marking discrepancies. Markers often mark against incorrect criteria. They offer zero feedback even after being asked. To get helpful feedback you have to escalate. Even then you get ‘reviews’ responses saying everything is fine and you’re wrong. An example is where we wrote an assignment and were told not to reference anything but the code of conduct. I have actual proof of this. Still got marked down because of a lack of referencing outside of the code of conduct. After weeks of escalation the reply is: we have looked and the marking is correct. If you’re not happy escalate further. This course has been so painful, besides working and studying I have found that I actually do not have time for this permanent escalation drag. Thus this review. read full review

The staff are absolutely fab at the uni. As a disabled student, I've had so much support from my supervisors, they've been amazing. The doctoral college is also great and their communication is always quick and easy. The facilities are good, the psychology lab techs are brilliant, but we could do with some new facilities - I also always end up in meetings in the basement, which doesn't have much natural light so it can get a bit depressing! read full review

As an international student, it can be quite at first in terms of finding people to connect with as making and building valuable relationships is a huge part of my student life.

I don’t know if it was a ripple from the post-pandemic effect, however, I found the campus a bit forlorn and scanty, void of activities and liveliness.

Nevertheless, as we progressed into the semester, and as all lectures became physically mandatory, it seemed more people came out into the open.

The students Union activities was one of the places with the most activities and there was a lot of restructuring which was not there at the start of the semester and I was quite impressed with the lounge they created, the bar and so much more because these are part of the things that really makes student life interesting and adds to the entire experience.

In relation to the activities organised by the school itself, I have not really been wowed as such. However, my faculty has organised a couple of trips for us and they have brought in several external speakers for events and I’ve been able to make valuable connections for my future career plans.

Another thing I particularly enjoy is the kind of access and communication we have with our lecturers and how willing they are to assist and guide student each step of the way. It is actually real and I didn’t have that in my undergraduate years honestly so it was refreshing to experience. read full review

MSc Psychology

UNIVERSITY OF WOLVERHAMPTON

Alexander - November 2023

I like that on a regular basis we get instructions on each module, the assignment and also if we feel well or have questions. The workload of the first week of studies was bit high for me but afterwards it got more balanced. I already gave feedback to the university itself and they replied and noted it. read full review
