The law building is so nice!! It’s very pretty and works well for studying, however I still haven’t got marks back from last year and one of my exams got voided due to the marking strike :( this was so disheartening considering how much work I put into these pieces of work read full review

MA Applied Human Rights

UNIVERSITY OF YORK

Christian - November 2023

The University of York has an entire support structure for students and has dedicated resources for students to use. For students like me who prefer a more peaceful vibe on campus, the University of York has one of the most conducive spaces for learning. York is a walkable city. It breathes in a small, but internationally-diverse community. This is an advantage for students who don't like the hustle and bustle of living in crowded cities.

The University of York also boasts of its excellent roster of faculty and staff. As an MA in Applied Human Rights student, I am consistently impressed by the level of instruction by my professors in the Department of Politics and the Center for Applied Human Rights (CAHR). The CAHR even hosts human rights defenders at risk from across the globe in an inclusive and holistic Protective Fellowship Scheme. This bridges the gap between theory and textbook human rights with real-work human rights issues and challenges.

As an international student, I was initially worried if I could find a community here. But, the college system in the University as well as the active student societies make me feel at home. This is crucial for international students who are adjusting to UK's culture.

The only aspect for improvement that I would recommend for the University of York is to amplify its marketing and visibility initiatives. The university already has the track record that could match other well-known universities, and I believe it's only a matter of marketing and promotion. read full review
The university has a class divide between the two campuses. The east campus is newly developed and has cutting-edge facilities that are way nicer than anything on the west campus. read full review
I think there should be more cafes and restaurants laid around the university as its far from the city center read full review

Great campus great facilities but a majority of international students come from one country in my department. It would be better to have more diversity. read full review
