We'll provide you with a robust theoretical and philosophical foundation to the profession of Occupational Therapy. Consisting of shared interprofessional learning, you'll benefit from exposure to a wide range of Allied Health professional's input and the opportunity to develop knowledge of person-centred care. Together we'll cover the basic science that underpins occupational therapy, including body systems, structures and functions. You'll critically and reflectively engage in the process of analysing activity, occupation, the roles and functions with the core skills of occupational therapists.

Occupational Therapy Theory and Practice develops your understanding of the transaction between the person, occupation and the environment and the impact on occupational performance. Explore a range of occupational performance issues, including a range of conditions and impairments, covering both physical and mental health. We'll use practical skilled based sessions, lectures, case-based scenarios, and involvement with service users. Allowing you to critically understand the impact of the condition on the person from an occupational therapy perspective.

Occupational Therapy Theory and Practice builds on your knowledge of the transaction between the person, occupation and the environment and the impact on occupational performance. Here, we focus on the environment and occupation. Exploring the breadth of occupational therapy practice in a variety of settings. You'll develop your knowledge and understanding of the impact of dysfunction on occupation and wellbeing, covered in module one, to the application of Occupational Therapy as a therapeutic intervention in the context of the Occupational Therapy process. Introducing you to the application of clinical and applied interventions in preparation for your first practice placement. Together we'll use practical skilled based sessions, lectures, case-based scenarios, and the involvement of service users.
