This research programme usually takes 12 months to complete. The degree is awarded based on the preparation and examination of a thesis and an oral examination (where necessary), together with successful completion of the Department's postgraduate training programme.Chemistry is a vibrant research-led department with an international reputation for its cutting-edge science, working on projects spanning organic, physical, inorganic, bioactive and computational chemistry, through to catalysis, nanoscience and materials.The department hosts about 120 Ph.D. and M.sc. students from all over the world who conduct their research and work alongsode world leading academics in a dynamic and friendly community.
