The Durham DBA benefits from a long heritage as one of the first executive DBA programmes in the UK. Its impressive alumni include senior figures from the UK government ministries as well as distinguished organisational and political figures internationally. A number have also become successful authors and others have embarked on a second career in academia. The distinguishing feature of the Durham DBA is its strong organisational focus. The programme seeks to encourage DBA students to use organisation theory in interdisciplinary ways to think critically and analytically about as well as influence organisations and management, work practices, processes and institutions.As a research degree, the Durham DBA offers skills and capabilities to discriminate between managerial “wisdom” and the results of rigorous, and relevant research and educates our students to engage in the second of these both through the research philosophy and ethics, and the research methodology workshops.
