Roehampton aims to provide its research students with the opportunity to study in a stimulating, responsive, supportive environment, which fosters independent, critical thinking. A PhD is for students who wish to devise an independent research project which will result in an original contribution to knowledge in the subject area. The Graduate School is the centre of the research student community at Roehampton. All research students belong to the Graduate School in addition to their Academic School. The Centre for Integrated Research in Life and Health Sciences spans 3 dimensions: disciplinary, methodical, taxonomic and biological levels. Fully harnessing the potential that this configuration presents, our vision is to explore fundamental questions about health; critically, we conceptualise health in the broadest way – the natural and adaptive functioning of people, of organisms and of diverse natural systems. Through the development of broad inter-disciplinary research themes and associated activities, we aim to break down traditional discipline boundaries and bring together teams of people to address key research questions in new ways through their diverse and distinct combinations of expertise.
