Our MSc in Facilities Management has been designed following huge demand for facilities managers both in the UK and abroad. The course is developed in such a way that it draws on FM practice and academia and will prepare you for workplace challenges. The MSc course in Facilities Management (FM) allows you to gain theoretical and practical knowledge about the discipline of FM. Our dedicated team of staff will provide you with practical training on the application of related software for the management of hard and soft FM services. The research seminar that is organised by the department enables you to apply statistical software and independently conduct research in an area of interest. In addition to preparing you to work in diverse FM sectors, you are also taught issues about the control of facilities – associated infections in healthcare establishments. With such level of knowledge, training and support, you are expected to graduate with employability skills that would enable you to gain employment in companies in the UK and abroad.
This module is concerned with developing your planning, control and decision-making skills in the context of programming and execution of complex projects.
On this module you'll develop a co-ordinated professional approach to the assessment and management of risk. This will be in relation to construction engineering and management processes, building services systems and installations, fire safety, security and insurance.
The aim of this module is to consider the requirements and applications of health, welfare and safety legislation relevant to construction, engineering and associated industries. You'll develop your understanding of health and safety and the development of systems and cultures. This will be taught with an emphasis on human factors and continuous improvement processes.
On this module, you'll evaluate the role of the Project Manager looking at the human aspects of project management. You'll develop requisite attributes and skills for the professional Project Manager.
This module will equip you with the knowledge, skills, competence and ICT know-how to manage hard and soft facilities management services at the operational and tactical levels of the business operation. In addition, you will appraise theories, concepts and managerial tools used to align facilities management to organisational strategies.
In line with professional body requirements, the module provides you with a thorough understanding of the management of the physical assets and properties that support core business operations. This involves equipping you with the knowledge to devise and implement a business strategic plan. With respect to such issues as acquisition, end-user needs and demands, business productivity etc. Through examining a series of case studies, you'll be equipped with the requisite tools, skills and competence akin to the asset and property management industries.
You will be provided with the opportunity to develop and showcase your skills in independent research and produce a high standard dissertation, fit for publishing. You will be required to couple both academic research and investigation skills in order to study and reflect critically.
