Our MRes Law programme places emphasis on doctrinal, theoretical and contextual study of law, and your self-understanding as a participant in the practice of legal scholarship.

We were ranked 10th for research intensity in a recent national assessment, with 100% of our research rated as world leading or internationally excellent.

Offering ideal preparation for PhD studies, this programme will enable you to develop advanced skills in legal research methods and analysis of law and legal issues. You will be part of a very small cohort of high-calibre students, undertaking sustained training in methodological approaches to legal research.

You will have full access to the library, student common room and all other facilities available to Reading Law students.

You need a good undergraduate honours degree (2.1 or above), or equivalent from a university outside the UK. Our students come with a variety of relevant legal and non-legal experience and all applicants are considered on individual merit.
