Matthew Rampley - Applicants

We tend to look for a variety of things in our applicants.

Obviously we are looking of evidence their academic skills, academic achievements, as well as a commitment to the subject. While obviously many students who study for an MA with us will be continuing in the same discipline therefore deepening their knowledge.

At the same time we have a fair number of students who are transferring from one discipline to another we are very open to that. We recognize that that's a very valuable career path that students can choose. Therefore with applicants who are choosing that path we are very open to discussion with them and what we are looking for. Therefore, it's a more general sense of academic achievement will then be relevant.

Quite clearly it has to be in a relevant discipline, but certainly we'll be open to that. In some cases we do expect students to have a certain degree of necessary technical knowledge, but it's always worth inquiring with a department to precisely what they require because you shouldn't always assume that if you haven't study that subject as an undergraduate that therefore you couldn't be a strong candidate for the masters program.
