Course Summary

This full-time, three-year Master's programme provides intensive knowledge of the basic principles of periodontal diseases, the management of advanced periodontal cases and the surgical components of implant dentistry. This programme satisfies the training requirements to sit for the Membership in Periodontics (M Perio) or Membership in Restorative Dentistry (MRD) - Periodontology examination. The programme offers students the ability to assess and manage the periodontal needs of a patient and to become competent in the presentation, diagnosis and management of all known diseases and disorders of the periodontium.

Careers

The programme offers the intensive knowledge and clinical expertise necessary to practise periodontics at a specialist level.

Employability

Following completion of the programme, graduates have joined or started dental practices in the UK, EU and overseas working in the field of periodontics and implant dentistry. Some graduates have followed clinically related PhD programmes and have been appointed to academic positions in dental schools in the UK and overseas. A number of international graduates have been appointed to prestigious governmental positions in their countries.

Accreditation:

The MClinDent has been an accredited postgraduate training programme from the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) for more than 15 years.

Each student undertakes an independent research project which culminates in a dissertation of approximately 12,000 words.
