The IQTS with PGCE is a 60-credit, level 7, online, part-time programme that enables you to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) alongside PGCE credits. The modules cover subject pedagogy, the theory and practice of teaching primary subjects, and professional identity. You'll study with academic and professional experts at the University of Derby and collaborate with peers in the international teaching profession. iQTS is a UK government-backed international teaching qualification, recognised by the DfE as equivalent to English Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), meaning that anyone awarded the iQTS qualification by an accredited ITT provider will automatically be awarded QTS through the DfE. This course is for trainee teachers of primary education (ages 3–11 years), offering 60 Masters credits from assessments on modules examining Professional Identity and Subject Pedagogy. It provides a flexible teaching qualification that addresses complex global education issues, creating teachers who are critical thinkers, able to grow into leaders of learning and shape the educational landscape of their classrooms in an international context. Inclusive practice and raising aspirations for all learners are key drivers, and you will develop your classroom practice with the support of dedicated, internationally renowned tutors.
