Coventry University is a leading UK university that is renowned for its forward-facing approach to teaching, modern facilities and focus on applied, impactful research. Though it became the university in 1992, Coventry has an educational heritage stretching as far back as 1843, when it was the Coventry College of Design.
Coventry was recently rated 7th in the 2022 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, and placed 69th in the UK according to the 2024 Complete University Guide league tables. This performance reflects the university’s modern approach to education and commitment to an excellent student experience.
Students at the university benefit from a compact and modern campus found in the heart of the city, where world-class research facilities, specialised learning environments and a wide range of quality student services come together.
Coventry is a vibrant medium sized city in the heart of England, known for its medieval cathedral, diverse population and easy access to other parts of the UK such as Birmingham and London. Students benefit from a quality campus experience and a friendly city environment that contains everything they’ll need as a resident.
Graduates of Coventry will benefit from ongoing careers support after they graduate, and will join a global network of alumni that includes Jimmy Doherty, Ghostpoet and Pauline Black.
Coventry University offers students the choice of a wide range of postgraduate programmes. The university recognises the value of postgraduate education in helping students become an expert in their chosen subject area, build their professional potential or make a change in their academic focus.
Students can apply for one of many taught master’s courses, including MA, MSc, MArch, MEng and LLM qualification types. For students looking to broaden their professional skillsets or drive a change in academic focus, shorter programmes like PGCert and PGDip qualifications are also available.
The university also supports a number of online and distance learning courses. These may be entirely online or involve a mix of remote and in-person learning activities. They span various subjects, and range from short professional courses to full master’s degrees. As a result, students can empower themselves and make the next step in their education or career around their existing lifestyle.
Coventry also runs a variety of research degrees, supported by several doctoral training centres. Students might pursue an MPhil or PhD qualification, or a professional doctorate. Postgraduate programmes at Coventry University each have their own entry requirements, which applicants will need to satisfy to receive an offer of study there. These criteria may relate to a student’s previous qualifications, their professional or personal experience, or English language proficiency in the case of non-native speakers.
For example, applicants for the MA in Illustration and Animation will need an undergraduate degree in a related subject, or a portfolio of professional work to submit.
Students applying for the MSc in Finance will need an undergraduate honours degree with a 2:2 grade or higher, in a subject like finance, economics or accounting. Relevant professional experience may also be considered.
Applicants for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology will need a 2:1 grade or higher in an undergraduate honours degree. English proficiency is also required, at IELTS level 7 or equivalent for non-native speakers. Sufficient clinical experience is also necessary, as well as a driver’s licence and a means of transport.
Entry requirements can vary between course and intake, so students should check the university website for up-to-date information.
