Falmouth University was originally founded as Falmouth School of Art in 1902 and as such, it has more than 120 years of experience in delivering creative education. Falmouth offers a range of postgraduate course options including taught, research, and PhD degrees, as well as several modes of study including online learning. As such, specific entry requirements do vary on a course-by-course basis, and prospective applicants are encouraged to check the university website to find details of their chosen course.
Applicants must meet the specific entry requirements of the course they wish to study, and typically, the standard entry requirements for a postgraduate taught course are equivalent to FHEQ Level 6. This usually involves holding an honours degree in a relevant subject area, or alternatively being able to demonstrate significant relevant experience. The Falmouth University website includes a list of equivalent international entry requirements.
Postgraduate research applicants and PhD students must first submit a research proposal on which preliminary feedback will be provided. All postgraduate applications are submitted direct, with information on the university website. The university may require further information to make a decision. This can include a proof of residency entitlement, evidence of sufficient English language ability, and in some cases the attendance of an interview, audition, or applicant day.

REQUEST INFOFalmouth specialises in a number of creative fields. It has one of the strongest undergraduate games design courses in the world, at the Games Academy, and also has a particularly successful art and design programme.
These departments produce some of the university’s most accomplished research work, and Falmouth has enjoyed excellent feedback in the most recent Research Excellence Framework assessment (REF 2021). In the field of art and design, 100% of Falmouth University’s research impact case studies and 63.4% of its research outputs have been rated as being world-leading or internationally excellent (4* and 3*), which represents significant progress since REF 2014.

Falmouth is able to offer a wide range of clubs and societies through its collaboration with the Exeter Students’ Union. The selection is broad, and also includes many sports teams that make good use of the university’s sports facilities.
