Postgraduate Reviews of Courses at Cardiff Metropolitan University

Strengths of Cardiff Met for an IBM Student:

· Applied, Industry-Focused Curriculum: Emphasis on live projects, case studies, and practical skills over pure theory.
· Strong Employability Focus ("Cardiff Met Edge"): Dedicated career support, CV workshops, and networking events tailored to graduate jobs.
· Modern Business Facilities: Excellent trading rooms, simulation suites, and library resources at the Llandaff Campus.
· Diverse International Cohort: Provides built-in cross-cultural networking and collaborative experience.
· Excellent City Location: Cardiff is affordable, safe, and has a thriving business community for internships and part-time work.
· Specialist Enterprise Links: Access to centres like the Centre for Entrepreneurship for real-world start-up engagement.

Areas for Improvement for an IBM Student:

· Brand Recognition: Less global prestige than older universities, which can be a hurdle in certain competitive job markets.
· Administrative Processes: Can be slow or confusing (e.g., enrolment, module selection, visa support, marking timelines).
· Campus Social & Networking Scene: Less traditional "student union" atmosphere; could use more large-scale, professional networking events.
· Academic Rigour Perception: The practical focus can sometimes be perceived as less theoretically rigorous compared to more traditional institutions.
· Post-Study Work Support: Could enhance dedicated, long-term career support for international alumni seeking global roles. read full review
Best:
The best part of my uni experience was the growth — meeting new people, experiencing a new culture, and realising how capable I actually am. It pushed me out of my comfort zone in a good way.

Worst:
The hardest part was managing pressure, especially juggling studies, work, and personal life. There were moments I felt overwhelmed, home sick, but they taught me resilience.
