The Psychological Research Centre is a thriving academic community made up of active researchers in a wide variety of areas. Research in the centre is internationally recognised and has a significant impact through benefits to society. There are four research groups: Cognitive, brain and behaviour research; Health, well-being and behaviour change; Identities, values and social change; and Justice, security and institutional change. Cutting across these research groups are the Children and Young People’s Research Network and the Qualitative Research Forum. All staff and postgraduate students belong to one or more of these groupings, and research that crosses thematic boundaries is also encouraged. The centre welcomes postgraduate research students from around the world as members of this community and provides support and facilities to enable them to achieve their full potential in a stimulating and lively environment. The centre provides an excellent range of research facilities and support including well equipped office space, technical and administrative support, regular research seminars, an annual postgraduate conference, journal clubs, and social events. There is a comprehensive induction process to help PhD students settle into life within the centre. There are opportunities for students to gain paid experience in teaching in psychology to support the undergraduate programme, one of the largest at Keele.
