Course info

Accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), our online MSc Psychology course is ideally suited to anyone looking to take the next step toward a career in psychology, bringing you one step closer to becoming a chartered psychologist. The programme has been accredited longer than any other online conversion course currently available, and the University of Derby’s long-standing relationship with the BPS ensures that you are studying a quality, recognised Master’s degree. Our online MSc Psychology conversion programme is designed for those intending to specialise in psychology, offering the distinctive range, depth and integration of skills, knowledge and applications required in the field. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the core areas of psychology required by the BPS, including contextual and historical issues, biological, cognitive, lifespan, individual differences, and social psychology, as well as the interconnections between them. You will also gain experience in designing, conducting and disseminating an independent research project. While this course alone does not qualify you to practise as a psychologist, it provides an opportunity for non-psychology graduates, or those from non-BPS accredited courses, to meet one of the entry requirements for postgraduate professional training in areas such as Health, Sport, Clinical, Counselling, Occupational, Educational or Forensic Psychology. Upon completion, you will be conferred Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), which keeps open the widest range of training, development and employment opportunities in psychology. Completing an accredited programme also offers a clear route to BPS membership, granting access to a wide range of benefits, including professional services, publications, conferences, training and networking opportunities.
