About the courseThis Masters level professional training programme introduces you to the requirements for teaching modern languages to the 11-16 age range and leads to recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status. Where appropriate, opportunities to experience post 16 provision will be available.You will be introduced to the principles and theories of secondary teaching through both subject studies and a developing professional practice course. The module enables trainees to develop a range of teaching, learning and assessment strategies that support all pupils to participate and make progress. Working with a school-based mentor and University tutors, trainees will develop their professional knowledge, skills and behaviours to meet the professional standards for Qualified Teacher Status.
Trainees develop a framework of evidence-based knowledge which they learn to apply competently to their practice, as skilled and reflective practitioners. Trainees are able to draw on a broad range of experience and apply their professional knowledge, skills and behaviours competently in context. The scholarship of their subject and curriculum knowledge entices the pupils they work with to participate, learn, enjoy, and make progress. Trainees demonstrate that they meet the professional standards for Qualified Teacher Status. Recognising the importance of sustained and structured professional learning, our teachers are aware of their professional strengths and areas for improvement as they begin the next stage of their professional development journey as Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
