Course Summary

The clinical science group supports a wide range of research ranging from the purely clinical setting, based at the University of North Staffordshire Hospital site and the associated Guy Hilton Research Centre, through to basic science with an emphasis on the translational opportunities ''from bench to bedside''.

Overview

Neurology research interests include

  • Molecular genetics in MS, with regard to susceptibility and outcome/disability
  • Vision studies to compare functional deficit by psychophysics with pathophysiology and MRI of the optic nerve and visual pathway in the brain.
  • Neuropsychological deficits following stroke handedness neurological complications of hyponatraemia stroke treatment chronic fatigue syndrome,
  • The ability of stem cells for neuronal differentiation, as prospective therapies for Parkinsons and Huntingtons diseases.

UK student visa regulations mean that students classed as overseas for fees purposes may normally only register on a full-time basis, unless they are Distance Learners.
