Postgraduate Reviews of Courses at Lancaster University

Its great for a good community, and a surprisingly good place to live. But the facilities are a bit outdated and could do with some better case (there is a shocking number of leaks at the sports centre given how much money I pay!) read full review
The university has a very welcoming, community feel, with great support from academic staff and other support services. The students union could be improved, and the food options, especially planted based options, could be substantially improved. The campus is quite eco friendly, has beautiful scenary, and a great library. The sports centre is great, well-equiped and fairly priced. read full review
I have had a really supportive clinical tutor on the course which has really helped. I like that the campus is out a bit in the countryside and there are some nice cafes to get food at. I also like the asian supermarket!
location wise i gave 4 stars just because it is far from the train station which makes commuting sustainably a bit more difficult as i live in cumbria. I am a mature student with a young family so have not explored the union or student life much but it sounds good from what i hear read full review

Volcanology MSc

LANCASTER UNIVERSITY

Erica - January 2026

It’s a beautiful campus with lots of green areas. It has fantastic facilities such as cafes, restaurants and a superb library. It has non academic books toi which is a perk I love. I think the students union is struggling financially so the amount they can offer to students is limited. read full review

What makes Lancaster University a great place to study?
Lancaster University provides high-quality teaching, strong research support, and a supportive academic culture. The collegiate system creates a strong sense of community, and excellent library and digital resources enhance learning and research.

How could it be improved?
Administrative processes could be more streamlined, particularly for part-time and international students. Greater flexibility in accessing services and improved communication across departments would further enhance the student experience. read full review
It could be improved if there were some more virtual places to meet up read full review
The course is fantastic, great support from the staff . I can tell I'm learning from experts who are the best in field. Thenonly critque I have is I wish there was more of a support network, social events etc, for graduates. An example are the societies which feel heavily tailored for undergrads, which I understand as MA students are only studying for a year. Even so, it would be nice to get more involved in activities as a postgrad. read full review
