It might not be university specific, but the difficulties in commuting has a big impact. The university has been negotiating with the first bus, however, the busses are always full because of sudden cancellations. Since university is at the top of the hill, I would hope this to be improved significantly so I wouldn’t have to walk up or take an uber up which makes me too tiring to concentrate on lectures. read full review

Bath is a beautiful city, and studying here feels surreally amazing. The course is also well supported by a faculty of wonderful staffs and professors, making the learning experience more than fulfilling. read full review

I don’t think it’s a great place to study. Especially if you’re an international student who’s spent so much money to be here.
The lectures aren’t interesting at all and the professors just read what’s there on the slides.

The Student Union are very supportive. Worthy of mention is SU pantry initiative that helps to cushion hardship among students by providing food items to students. However, more funding is needed to keep this initiative sustainable read full review

My overall experience at the University of Bath has been highly positive and intellectually rewarding. One of the strongest aspects of studying at Bath is the quality of teaching and academic rigour, particularly the way theory is consistently connected to real-world application. The curriculum is well designed, structured, and aligned with current industry and research practices, which has helped me develop both technical competence and critical thinking. Academic staff are knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in student learning, and there is an open culture that encourages discussion, questioning, and independent thought.

Another major strength is the campus environment and facilities. The University offers excellent learning spaces, libraries, digital resources, and specialist facilities that support both individual study and collaborative work. Being based on a compact campus fosters a strong sense of community, making it easy to engage with peers, staff, and extracurricular activities. The campus also prioritises wellbeing, with access to green spaces, sports facilities, and student support services that help maintain a healthy work–life balance, which is particularly valuable during demanding academic periods.

Beyond academics, the University of Bath provides numerous opportunities for student engagement, leadership, and representation. Through involvement in student-led initiatives and representative roles, I have found the University to be responsive to feedback and willing to engage in dialogue with students. These experiences have helped me build confidence, communication skills, and a sense of belonging within the wider university community.

There are, however, areas where the experience could be improved. While general career support is strong, offering more structured opportunities, such as work shadowing, alumni talks, and industry meet-ups, particularly tailored for postgraduate and international students, would add additional value. That said, the faculty has been extremely supportive throughout, especially in guiding students with placements and readily providing references, which has made the overall transition towards professional opportunities a positive and encouraging experience.

What makes it such a great place to study is the inspiring academics, dynamic campus life, and real-world project opportunities that excellently prepared me for my career.

The worst aspect was that some lecturers simply read directly from PowerPoint slides instead of actually teaching. Lectures often felt like passive slide-reading sessions with little explanation, engagement, or deeper insight, which made it hard to stay motivated and truly understand the material. read full review
