Postgraduate Reviews of Courses at Queen Mary University of London

Regarding the academic environment, module conveners, and overall student support, I consider QMUL to be excellent. The teaching culture is engaging and supportive, and module conveners are approachable, responsive, and committed to student learning. I particularly value the structured guidance, constructive feedback, and availability of academic support, which together create a strong and encouraging learning environment.

However, the physical arrangement of classes across different locations can sometimes be tiring and time-consuming. Traveling between campuses or buildings for consecutive sessions occasionally reduces efficiency and adds logistical pressure to the study day. Greater scheduling coordination or more centralized classroom allocation could help improve the student experience in this respect.

Additionally, while the library facilities are helpful, I sometimes find that the available resources are not sufficiently comprehensive for advanced research needs. Expanding access to more online databases, e-books, and academic journals would significantly strengthen research support for students. Increasing digital resource subscriptions and remote access options would be a valuable improvement.

Overall, the academic and support environment is a major strength, and with some enhancements in resource access and location coordination, the student experience could be even better. read full review

I have a great experience here because it's a fantastic university with highly qualified professors, excellent facilities, and a vision and values that are very much aligned with current job market demands. I'm pursuing a doctorate here because of the facilities and the high quality of education.

The school could improve its services for doctoral students by providing them with their own dedicated workspace and eliminating the "hot desking" policy. Many students are committed to working daily on campus because this fosters a strong student community, expands our network, and enriches our academic life. read full review

Professors are always encouraging students to learn more and facilitate in ways that will bring out the best potential of the student, such as connecting with other professors and industry experts they know, so that the problem being questioned has the best solution.

The staff I met so far have always been helpful and friendly, especially guiding the student with the right information.

I am very happy to be here in mixed of top researchers, scientists, doctors, and industrial experts supporting me to become an elite scientist in the future.

Thank you, QMUL. Please continue to do more read full review
The best part of my university experience has been the people and the learning environment. I’ve had lecturers who are genuinely passionate about what they teach and willing to take the time to explain things properly, which has made a huge difference to my confidence and interest in the subject. I’ve also really appreciated the diversity on campus and the feeling that I’m part of a community – meeting people from different backgrounds, sharing experiences, and growing alongside them has been one of the most rewarding aspects of being here.

That said, I do feel there’s real room for improvement when it comes to student support, especially counselling and careers guidance. At times, it has felt like the university points you in a direction but doesn’t really walk with you. It would help a lot if counselling and careers services didn’t just offer general advice, but actually supported students step by step – for example, helping them work out what they want to do, showing them how to look for roles, guiding them through applications, and checking in on their progress. Sometimes you don’t just need to be told where the path is; you need someone to sit down with you, look at your situation, and help you figure out how to move forward in a way that feels realistic and less overwhelming. read full review
I think it is really good in terms of the support level. However, it has been hard to make friends currently. Additionally, it is less convenient having lectures in 2 different campuses in the same day. read full review
I like that Centre for commercial law studies is located at an important location and also very central but I think we lack a library area where we can properly study. read full review

One of the best aspects of my university experience was the independence it gave me. University pushed me to manage my own time, set priorities, and take responsibility for my academic and personal growth. I also valued the diversity of perspectives I encountered—engaging with classmates from different backgrounds challenged my assumptions and strengthened my critical thinking skills. Additionally, working on group projects and presentations helped me build confidence in communication and collaboration.

On the other hand, one of the most challenging aspects was balancing academic pressure with personal well-being. There were periods where deadlines, exams, and expectations felt overwhelming. At times, this forced me to confront my own weaknesses in time management and stress control. However, those difficult moments ultimately helped me develop resilience, better planning strategies, and a more disciplined approach to my work.

Overall, both the positive and challenging aspects of my university experience contributed significantly to my growth—not only academically, but also personally and professionally.
