QUEEN MARY UNIVERSITY OF LONDON
Overall Rating

The best part of my university experience has been the people and the learning environment. I’ve had lecturers who are genuinely passionate about what they teach and willing to take the time to explain things properly, which has made a huge difference to my confidence and interest in the subject. I’ve also really appreciated the diversity on campus and the feeling that I’m part of a community – meeting people from different backgrounds, sharing experiences, and growing alongside them has been one of the most rewarding aspects of being here.

That said, I do feel there’s real room for improvement when it comes to student support, especially counselling and careers guidance. At times, it has felt like the university points you in a direction but doesn’t really walk with you. It would help a lot if counselling and careers services didn’t just offer general advice, but actually supported students step by step – for example, helping them work out what they want to do, showing them how to look for roles, guiding them through applications, and checking in on their progress. Sometimes you don’t just need to be told where the path is; you need someone to sit down with you, look at your situation, and help you figure out how to move forward in a way that feels realistic and less overwhelming.
