QUEEN MARY UNIVERSITY OF LONDON
Overall Rating

Regarding the academic environment, module conveners, and overall student support, I consider QMUL to be excellent. The teaching culture is engaging and supportive, and module conveners are approachable, responsive, and committed to student learning. I particularly value the structured guidance, constructive feedback, and availability of academic support, which together create a strong and encouraging learning environment.

However, the physical arrangement of classes across different locations can sometimes be tiring and time-consuming. Traveling between campuses or buildings for consecutive sessions occasionally reduces efficiency and adds logistical pressure to the study day. Greater scheduling coordination or more centralized classroom allocation could help improve the student experience in this respect.

Additionally, while the library facilities are helpful, I sometimes find that the available resources are not sufficiently comprehensive for advanced research needs. Expanding access to more online databases, e-books, and academic journals would significantly strengthen research support for students. Increasing digital resource subscriptions and remote access options would be a valuable improvement.

Overall, the academic and support environment is a major strength, and with some enhancements in resource access and location coordination, the student experience could be even better.

Accommodation

I currently live in QMUL student accommodation and, considering the rent, I find it quite expensive. Basic items such as a pillow, duvet, and essential kitchen materials are not provided, so I had to purchase all of these myself after arrival. During the application process, I did not have any accommodation options other than Aspire Point, whereas some other students were able to choose between multiple residences.

In terms of security, the accommodation is good and I feel safe living here. However, most of my classes take place at Lincoln’s Inn Fields, which is quite far from my residence. As a result, I spend a significant amount of time and money on transportation, which adds to the overall cost and daily fatigue.

On the positive side, the accommodation management organizes different programmes and social activities every month and shares regular newsletters about them. For example, we decorated the housing during Christmas and participated in painting activities in the hall, which I found very enjoyable. I am also fortunate to have supportive and understanding flatmates, which makes daily life more comfortable. These positive aspects partly compensate for the high rent and distance from my main teaching location.
