Postgraduate Reviews of Courses at University of Staffordshire

The course staff are amazing, supportive, encouraging and knowledgeable. As a post grad course and students we are always over looked and forgotten. read full review
Best - Lots of opportunities, lovely campus, lots of external lecturers (experts in their fields) coming in to do to lectures, service user involvement, well stocked libraries, can park on site.

Worst - The tables in the lecture rooms are circular and someone always has to sit with their back to the lecturer or twisting around for the whole lecture. Would prefer normal lecture rooms. read full review
Disorganised and could be cleaner. read full review
Best- student wellbeing support, campus facilities, access to academic support.

Worst- communication regarding the format of the course. read full review
Great modern facilities. Best simulation suites in the UK. Really excellent staff with strong practitioner backgrounds delivering practical subjects in a real world context. Super transport hubs. Train station in middle of campus with London 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Fantastic. read full review
Really supportive team of lecturers/ tutors. Ideal as a uni for a mature student working full time. Not much of a student life vibe but it what I’m looking for at this stage. May not appeal to younger generation. Facilities have been improved a lot recently. Good resources available for research. read full review
Lecturers are brilliant and always want to help whenever you need whether it's about the topic we're studying or career prospects. read full review
Fantastic facilities on campus, the simulation suites allow students the opportunity to put taught sessions into practice before implementing skills in the real world. This allows students the opportunity to make mistakes and learn from them, in a safe setting without judgement or implication on patients. The site is welcoming and inclusive. Lecturers are welcoming and approachable.

Improvements - Scheduling/timetables of modules needs to be reconsidered. Often they overlap especially in 3rd year this is problematic. For example - When waiting on results from one module (which are needed prior to starting the dissertation module as the content/proposal forms the basis for the dissertation) but the deadline to submit the proposal for consideration for the dissertation aspect was due prior to the result release date from the previous module. This was looked into but then students were only given 2 days from the release date to the deadline to make any amendments - baring in mind all students on this module are also in full-time employment working typically writhing healthcare/nhs settings.

There appears to be no consideration to students responsibilities outside of university when it comes to university timetables/deadlines.

When multiple lecturers are teaching on the same module there appears to be little to no communication regarding their expectations of us as a student or discussions about what’s been taught/previous advised. We have experienced multiple lecturers where one lecture has told you “this is what is expected and what the module/assessment entails” & the following week another lecture provides completely different information. This creates confusion for students especially when we have tight deadlines and limited time to complete this around our full time jobs and life commitments read full review
The lab experimentation makes it a best institution for education.
