The best experience for me is meeting new friends from different cultural background and the worst experience is oh my gosh the school it services

The best thing about the university is the location, strong facilities and the student support. There is a vibrant student life with various clubs and numerous social activities. The university has more support services for mental wellbeing, finance and career guidance. And last but not least the university have strong employment prospects and known for its quality of teaching and modern facilities. The worst part is that it is located too far that is south of the country. The city is a waterfront city and the location is situated south corner of the city. The city is too far from the London city. Some university halls have older ones and in poor condition. read full review
Portsmouth gave me a first-class education, lifelong friends, and a graduate job that pays double the UK average starting salary. The location and facilities are genuinely excellent, and many of the academic staff are world-class.
But the university urgently needs to fix its administration, invest in proper student support, and remember that students are human beings, not revenue lines on a spreadsheet. Too many of my friends left Portsmouth traumatised by bureaucracy, broke from rent, or both.
If you’re thinking of going in 2025/26: choose a strong department (Business, Engineering, Pharmacy, Sports Science), live in Southsea rather than the city Centre if you can, and prepare yourself for endless email-chasing. The good bits are brilliant. The bad bits are soul-destroying. read full review

Studying at the University of Portsmouth feels like being part of a welcoming community where you’re encouraged to grow both academically and personally. The city itself adds to the experience—it’s vibrant, full of history, and right by the sea, which makes student life feel unique and refreshing.

The university offers strong support services, from wellbeing to career guidance, and there’s always something happening, whether it’s societies, sports, or events that bring people together. What makes it such a great place to study is the balance between academic quality and a genuinely supportive environment that helps students feel at home. If there’s one area that could be improved, it would be expanding more study spaces and making timetabling a bit smoother, so students can make the most of everything the university has to offer without feeling stretched. read full review
The University of Portsmouth London Campus is a friendly and supportive place to study, and the teachers are helpful and easy to talk to. The campus is modern and in a convenient London location, which makes travelling simple. The student community is diverse and welcoming, and the courses are practical and focused on building real skills. However, communication between different departments can sometimes be slow, and having more social events would help students connect more. Adding more study spaces and resources would also improve the experience. Overall, it’s a good place to study and has the potential to become even better. read full review

The University of Portsmouth is a genuinely great place to study. The lecturers are friendly, supportive, and easy to approach, and most of them bring real industry knowledge into their teaching, which makes the course feel practical and relevant. The campus facilities are modern, especially the library and specialist labs, and there are plenty of good study spaces.

The student community is one of the biggest highlights—there’s a welcoming atmosphere, loads of societies, and it’s really easy to make friends. Portsmouth itself is also a big bonus: everything is close by, affordable, and having the beach right on your doorstep makes student life feel unique

There aren’t many downsides, but small things could still be improved. At busy times the library can fill up quickly, and occasionally communication about timetable changes could be a bit clearer. Apart from that, most things work smoothly.

Overall, university of Portsmouth is a supportive, friendly, and enjoyable place to study, with great staff, strong facilities, and a brilliant student community.

First I thought I will have a tough time in the university. But coming to this place it feels like heaven. No bully,no pressure from authorities ,even the supervisor is super cool. No-one is criticising my shortcomings. All are trying to help in every aspect. The heavenly library which is 24hours open for students.Gym for the recreation and there are many other thing for the students welfare.Seriously it is a heaven for a student. It's my bad luck that I am in an one year masters course here....If it’s possible I will continue my study for my better future . read full review

The Union is incredibly disappointing but the student societies do their best despite this. read full review
