UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH

Steev-Becca Njissic - December 2025

My best experience studying at the University of Portsmouth is the facility provided by the library. My personal laptop has a very low capacity and that makes it difficult to study. However, the library has been a lifesaver. It is open 24 hours, provides access to paid ebooks and is very convenient for studying.
My worst experience thus far was in locating my classes. At first, I found it very hard finding my classes, but I have now have a good mastery of the locations of my classes read full review

As a PhD student, the application process was particularly enjoyable for me. After telling my supervisor and the institute director that I wanted to start as soon as possible, they scheduled my interview much quicker than expected. The school's office facilities are excellent for a law school. The staff are polite and understanding. There are many English-development courses for international students. PhD Collage offers excellent programs for personal development. It's close to tourist cities like London, Oxford, and Bath, making it a great way to unwind and explore. The city is small, but it has beautiful parks and beaches. The tuition is reasonable and acceptable. I would definitely recommend it, especially for my department.
One area that could be improved is office accessibility. I would appreciate having 24/7 access to my office, as doing a PhD is a full-time commitment and a lifestyle, and I work most effectively when I can manage my own schedule. read full review
I’ve been at the university for the last 3 years completing my undergraduate study, then came back straight after to study my masters! The university has been of great help with my studies over the last 3 years and ongoing, the careers support during my second year searching for a placement was amazing! Although i didn’t manage to secure a placement, the support was outstanding and i still received lots of valuable support! In terms of academic and personal tutors & lecturers, i’ve had great experiences with every single one, they have all gone above and beyond to help me which has been fantastic, throughout BSc geography the faculty was great, and the same follows through to my course i am currently undertaking. One thing i would change is making the students union more of a thing! most other unis have big student unions where they have a social space with a bar - i think this is a massive missed opportunity as it is one thing that a lot of other universities rave about! read full review
I've never seen such a lively campus before. The minute you enter Portsmouth, you know that's you're in Portsmouth! With the different university building spread across everywhere. I've just started my masters this September, and it has been nothing but a blast. It's filled with discussions with diverse students makes it more knowledgeable. read full review
