About Postgraduate Women's Health

Women’s health is a specialised area of study within medicine, focusing on the physiology, conditions and diseases that specifically affect women. This discipline brings together study and practice across areas such as pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, menstruation and menopause, as well as a variety of other conditions that are exclusive or more prevalent in women.

There are more than 10 postgraduate programmes in women's health at six universities in the UK.

What to expect

Entry requirements vary widely from course to course due to the diverse range of topics covered. You’ll usually need a relevant science or medical qualification or substantial work experience in your area of interest.

Common modules include reproductive health, pregnancy and childbirth, fertility and infertility, mental health, health psychology and gender and global health issues.

Working in research towards improved healthcare for women or becoming a midwife, nurse or doctor are all options for graduates.
