Physics PhD

LANCASTER UNIVERSITY
Overall Rating

- Great modern facilities on a beautiful campus - the physics building was completely renovated in 2018, foe example.
- Easy access to/from town via buses or cycle routes including a night bus giving links between town and campus until 3am at weekends in term time.
- Student support always feels easy to access, both departmentally and from the wider university support network.
- Some people might feel that there is perhaps not as much to do as in bigger cities although I have never had any issues with stuff to do - Lancaster has plenty of great pubs, shops, cafes etc. Morecambe and Heysham are very close and essentially make up the coastal part of the wider Lancaster region. There is also easily accessible countryside in smaller villages such as Carnforth, Silverdale, Halton etc. Liverpool and Manchester are also less than an hour away by train.
- The students' union is okay but I don't feel they have had a big impact on my time at the uni apart from Sugarhouse, the SU's nightclub.
