UNIVERSITY OF GREENWICH
Overall Rating

Last year I did not have a good year. I was isolated from all my friends and classes and therefore did not go to many. I think the university should be more conscious of who they put in Avery Hill and who they put in Cutty Sark and Macmillan. This year however I live in a houseshare much nearer my uni and have found my experience is now much more enjoyable, I live where I originally wanted to be placed and love how easy it is to get into London and to university. I very much enjoy my course as this year my subjects are much more suited to me and my goals.

Student Union

As I have already stated, the SU in Avery Hill is okay but not fantastic. In my opinio we could have a better one in Greenwich. Most other uni's have fantastic clubs that act as their SU whereas we have a sort of weird cafe/bar hybrid. I think this is a missed opportunity.

Accommodation

Last year I lived in halls that were a forty minute bus from where I studied, meaning very early mornings. It was quite depressing living far away from my friends who all lived nearer campus. Also there was very little to do where my halls were. The money I saved by living there did not make up for the amount of money I spent on transport going to and from the library and my friends. For me personally, it was poor value.

Uni Facilities

The student union in Avery Hill is okay, but there isn't an equivilent in Greenwich. I have been to many other student unions that are better and more like a club. Also the university gym is in Avery Hill. Which makes sense as there is not a gym in Eltham, however the gym's around Greenwich are massively more expensive. Other than that the libraries and computers are all good, and the free shuttle bus was useful for me last year.

Course and Lecturers

It is very diverse, also I can pick modules that I think are more suited to my goals so I can tailor it to me. The teachers are all experienced and knowledgable.

City Life

I love trying new bars and restaurants. London is THE best place to do that there is no shortage of new places and experiences, amazing memories can be made here with such little effort.

Job Prospects

Because of my chosen career path, not that easy. However it would have been impossible without having come to Greenwich to study.

Student Support

I have no applied for any however a lot of my friends use the CV clinic, and have made use of the mentoring system to help them get internships. Also a few of my friends used the dyslexia grant for support which has helped them no end.

Having said what you have said would you recommend your uni?
